Carmel is Emeritus Professor of Learning Enhancement and former Director of the Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research (CLEAR) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa. Since the early 1970s, Carmel has worked in education in Australasia, southern Africa and the UK across all levels of education, specialising in science education, language learning, technology-assisted learning, and educational policy. She has been involved in several professional organisations and is a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Computers in Education. She is a prolific author on a wide range of educational topics and a sought-after keynote speaker; recent publications and activities can be viewed at the Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research.
David was previously Executive Director: Teaching and Learning at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in the UAE. The position involved supporting all aspects of teaching and learning at the HCT. His experience also include Professor and Deputy Dean: Teaching and Learning at James Cook University (Singapore), and Programme Director at the University of Hong Kong. He has been involved in strategic planning, professional development in teaching and learning, research training, and programme and course design for almost 20 years, including contributing to numerous institutional initiatives involving quality assurance, academic boards, accreditation and programme reviews. David has published over 100 academic research papers and reports, with a focus on teaching and learning in multiple academic disciplines.
